Come and Celebrate with Atlanta Dragon Boat Festival welcoming the arrival of the New Dragon Boat, in an Ancient Chinese Tradition “Awakening of the Dragon Ceremony”. This is a rare opportunity to see these boats and be up close on land before the September Festival.
Awakening of the Dragon Ceremony is a Chinese tradition to mark the start of the Dragon Boat Racing Season. This uniquely designed boat with Dragon Motif is an ancient water sport which originated in China over 2000 years ago and it is rapidly growing around the world and is the sport that adopted by the Breast Cancer Survivors around the world.
This year’s event is carefully planned with great care and thoughts of how to transform a 2000 years old eastern culture to 200 years old western culture where truly East meets West. The Ceremony is packed with Chinese Culture Performance such as Lion Dance, Shoaling Institute Kung Fu, Breast Cancer Survivor Tribute, and the fun and exciting Gwinnett Braves double header against Charlotte Knights and encore performances of the Lion Dance, Shoaling Kung Fu and much more.
